As they say if things were easy everybody would be doing it. Taking somewhat longer than previous records to finish up their new record, Deftones were in the studio for what seemed like an unfeasibly long time. At last breaking the silence with their single “Prayers / Triangles” it was clear that good things do come to those who wait. Finding it harder than usual to get his head around the record, Stephen Carpenter, the band’s thunderous riff machine slowly but surely cottoned on to the record. Delivering knockout classics the likes of “Doomed User” to the rather more arid “Hearts / Wires“.

Download Festival 2016 : Live Review

The sense of anticipation seen for England’s Download Festival from its fans is something that many will never truly understand unless you were there to witness it first hand. The master of the “you just had to be there” quote. Formerly the host to the gargantuan Monsters of Rock has since become hallowed ground in the realm of the Metal world. Barricading ourselves away from the modern world for yet another three days Download 2016 might not have had the kindest of weather but with a spirit as tenacious as that of a Metal head it’s no matter. Across three days varying with four stages we were treated to some of the pedigree acts of both the modern and timeless classics creating a beautiful tapestry of classic influences to the likes of the forward thinking band’s leading the charge on modern Metal. Album Review : Deftones – Gore

Iconoclast’s of the modern day, Deftones are largely responsible for spearheading much what we know as today’s modern Metal. Having been around for thirty plus years the band have been slowly but surely adapting their sound without leaving their roots.  Marrying the dirt ridden grooves from Stephen Carpenter with the shrill and drunken stumbling lyrics of Chino Moreno the band have come to create winning and esoteric formula. Returning from their four year sejourn at last the band create their follow up.
