Beginning the year with the biggest of bangs The Black Dahlia Murder began their European tour in support of their 2015 effort Abysmal. Originally penned for a double residency at London’s Underworld the band were added onto the already brilliant line up fo Abbath’s debut show. Shortly before their performance we were able to speak to founding member alongside Trevor Strnad and Death Metal lunatic Brian Eschbach. With the recent news that long time guitarist Ryan Knight has departed the band we asked him how the guitarist elevated the band, what some of his favourite horror movies and bands of the current day, set to head out on their tour performing Unhallowed in its entirety this Spring the band are bigger than they ever have been. Things in The Black Dahlia Murder life are far from Abysmal.

Welcome back! After the blissful slumber that was Christmas we slowly but surely entered the new year. Wiping away the cobwebs of 2015 we greet the new year with a decidedly frosty hello. Penned for last September, Abbath was set to return with Primordial and Conan. Owing to some difficulties the show was instead postponed to banish the January blues. All the while our Death Metal deviants Benighted and The Black Dahlia Murder were scheduled to perform separate shows in the same area. Deciding to combine both shows into one mega show, minus Conan, we welcome the first gig of 2016.

Poised to release their brand new album Abysmal, The Black Dahlia Murder have well and truly become one of the Death Metal elite. With the new album tackling uncharted territory for the band, along with reminding us just how reliantly devastating the band can be we were able to speak to macabre linguist Trevor Strnad. Speaking of Abysmal’s theme’s along the album featuring a small track by track description, along with what it was like for the band to perform out of their comfort zone on the Warped Tour and some good ol’ fashioned Death Metal. Keep an ear out for an announcement of some European tour dates coming in January!
