An album I would have never expected to make the shortlist for album of the year, but there we go. Devilment’s sophomore effort made a lasting impression, and it still sits on the record player much to personal surprise.

Resulting sadly in her death the brothers resolved to scrap everything that had been written and entirely rethink the album.

Slayer took on the more morbid of tendencies with a particularly more visceral religious slant. Anthrax the New York Thrash underdogs went for more of a well rounded if ever slightly crossover approach with their 1987 release Among The Living. Ending with the biggest band of all time Metallica are without a doubt the crowned kings of the big four and deservedly so. Taking on more of an introspective look into subjects ranging from war to inner torments the band simply got it right with (almost) every release.
At long last work has begun on the brand new Suffocation album.
