Maintaining a close bond with fans is one of the most important aspects of being in music. Now more than ever with the appearance of the likes of IndieGoGo and crowd funding it seems to be that bands are slowly but surely closing the gap between them and their fans. Having always been very conscious of their fan base Trivium are one of the premier acts to look up to. After releasing their excellent Silence In The Snow in October of last year the band have been on a whirlwind tour of the world but not quite where you would think.

Trivium have been an easy target for many over the years. A band never content with their previous incarnation, it all started with their eponymous debut Ascendancy, which though might have been one of the best breakthrough albums of the past ten years has unfortunately been an unfair benchmark for the band to be measured against. With fans constantly going on about the fact that none of their material sounds like the album. Now ten years on it seems that the growing pains of Trivium might have finally finished.

With an incredible amount of festivals all over Europe each bringing their own tastes to the table, in the past we have had the Monsters of Rock, now we have Download, Reading and Leeds and the underdog that is Bloodstock. Both Reading and Leeds becoming decidedly more mainstream, Bloodstock has very much stuck to their bloodsoaked guns. With this now it’s fourteenth incarnation this year we set foot in Catton Park for the first time. In retrospect now I can certainly assure you that Bloodstock is definitely one of Metal’s premier UK Festivals.
