Instrumental in the perfection of what was the nineties death Metal scene, Suffocation have long been heralded as the godfathers of this, most bloodthirsty of genres. Having continued since their nineties hey day, the band have continually upped the ante with each release. Following the release of 2012’s Pinnacle of Bedlam, the band embarked on a hectic touring schedule the world over. Returning to the studio at the tail end of 2016, the band resolved to revitalise their sound, the end result was Of The Dark Light.

An Interview With Terrance and Derek (Suffocation) 

Death Metal itself as a genre has seen many different incarnations, currently in a state of revival though none were as pertinent as the nineties. Seeing bands sprout from nothing, these were the real beginnings of the Death Metal scene. Waving the flag proudly for New York Suffocation emerged to create some of the most sonically crushing music there has been. With releases like the classic Effigy Of The Forgotten, Breeding The Spawn and Pierced From Within it wouldn’t be far from the truth to call the band Death Metal royalty. Live Review : Nile – Suffocation

The capital date, where both bands and fans have a huge anticipation that can turn even the most mundane of Tuesday nights into the stuff of legend. Tending to miss out on some of the excellent tours that have been making their way through the US, the UK sometimes loses out but not this time. Coming together for an absolutely devastating double header both Nile and Suffocation have banded together to deliver some of the most devastating tours in recent memory. Nevertheless before the two Death Metal demi gods are set to appear we were able to check out Blood Truth.

Wes Craven : A Metal Tribute

For those among you who might not yet know, Wes Craven has sadly passed on it was announced this morning. Dying at the age of 76 we can all take comfort in the fact that the man well and truly lived his life, though after death there is still life. In the shape of his absolutely archetypal films his memory will forever live on. Making some of the most Metal movies and being one of the heroes of horror we thought that we would make a quick list of five Metal songs to do with the classic concept, dreams.
