The concept album. An unattainable zenith for some in the music world. Well versed in the art, Mastodon were practically born to write with concept in mind. Layering melody, rhythm and story to create something altogether transcendental from the mere confines of music. Centering on a theme for each release, we’ve treated to a plethora of ideas. From the space dimension exploratory Crack The Skye, the inner quest in Blood Mountain and of course the beautiful take on Moby Dick that was Leviathan. The band are the very essence of unique. Having put their previous release ‘Once More Round The Sun to bed, the band venture into the cosmos once more for the bewitching Emperor of Sand
Somewhat of a household name now, Mastodon have reached one of the highest echelons in the name of Progressive Music. Despite their signing to the major label and for many the archfiend of the industry Warner Bros. previously, this only saw the far reaching arm of Mastodon extended. Conceptual in their ideas Mastodon do like a story.

New Mastodon is coming.
Previously announcing the one off megashow that would feature, Gojira, Opeth and Devin Townsend, the other three, youknow small bands would be having a tour of their own, whilst candidly announcing Mastodon’s new album.
Announcing their co-headline jaunt together Opeth and Gojira will be joined by none other than The Devin Townsend Project, Russian Circles, Eagles of Death Metal and a little band called Mastodon. Welcome to Eagles of Russian Devin Mastojirapeth!
With a Halloween themed update.
The time has come, Mastodon are in the studio!
After the absolutely phenomenal first day’s proceedings the bar was set incredibly high for Saturday. As the crowd thankfully weren’t needed to evacuate their slowly sinking tents owing to the constant beam of beautiful sunshine, save for that terrifying moment when we all woke up and heard rain, the ground had stayed firm. Walking / stumbling / running into the main stage area we were greeted with the roar of approval brought forth from the English take on Death ‘n’ Roll that is Vallenfyre.
Ah the days of summer, the ability to be confident that leaving the house with a (black) t-shirt is a good idea, the (black) ice creams shared and of course the abundance of (black?) sunshine. Though nothing says Summer quite like Bloodstock, attending our first ever festival last year we are incredibly excited to be getting back to real matters here. Knocking together a truly phenomenal line up this year we’ve got full performances of The Satanist, last ever performances, Space age Thrash and Mastodon to enjoy. We’ve picked ten out of the plethora of bands that will get any Metalhead moshing for good reason. Come with us through the rabbit hole and check out the ten bands that we think are unmissable at this year’s Bloodstock 2016!
The wheels have been set in motion for the brand new Mastodon album and it’s going to be a big one.
Deciding to try and give back to their community whilst also venturing into new and exciting times, not only will Mastodon be known for their all out Prog wizardry but will now be running a rehearsal studio in Atlanta.
