Known for their no nonsense mentality, The Haunted are one of the premier acts of the Metal world that are severely underrated. Combining elements of classic Hardcore with the classic Swedish melodic Death Metal sound they are the kings of the riff. Now, having previously announced their new album Strength in Numbers, the band have unveiled their first single “Brute Force” and it packs a punch.
As infamous saying goes, “Expect the unexpected”. Sharing this sentiment throughout their time as a band, The Haunted, a Swedish export of the highest calibre, have always had a a hint of turning things on their head. Now in the cold light of day that is 2017 their situation is very much different to their mid 00’s status. The reality of being in a band in 2017 is often perhaps not quite as glamorous as one might think. However, it does teach you a helpful life lesson to understand the sheer amount of work the hallowed “Roadie” goes through night after night. On the final night of their tour with Swedish demigods Meshuggah, The Haunted’s Marco Aro was able to spare a little bit of time to answer some questions about the band and their brand new album.
And they’re not all “For Whom The Bell Tolls”.
A magician never reveals his secrets. Similarly Meshuggah have once again temporarily exited their hibernation period to floor the entire globe with their latest release The Violent Sleep Of Reason and not only that but the world of live music as the quintuplet descend once more upon London’s Forum for a sold out show that most would take an entire lifetime just to be able to match.
Set to support Meshuggah on their UK tour next year, much has been quiet on The Haunted front until now!
Work has begun on The Haunted’s follow up to previous record Exit Wounds.
A year and a day ago last year we saw the release of one of Metal’s best come back albums in years. The year before was the released of the now eponymous Surgical Steel but last year saw the rebirth of At The Gates.
