At the forefront of the avant garde Gorguts stand alone. Returning with a new line up for the absolute tour de force, that was Colored Sands. Earning the accolade of Album of The Year when it was released, the record was not only a study in dissonance but the ideas presented were of a surpremely intellectual nature. Rewind to last year and Gorguts revealed their strike to the scene with their EP, Pleiades’ Dust and now for the first time you can witness it live.
The very nature of an EP is to be ever so slightly exciting. Like tying fans over before the next big release, a small snippet of things to come and a snapshot of where the band is at musically. Originally being somewhat reticent to EP’s don’t ask me why but I think it’s to do with the very short lived nature of it, this year I came to be a lot more acquainted with them causing me to make yet another list!

Gorguts will be returning to the US to blow minds with some excellent support in tow.
Returning with their masterwork that was Colored Sands, consisting of a revitalised line up which at first glance might have seemed a Frankenstein-esque creation, in fact created a paradoxically coherent sound. Primed for another onslaught of cacophony we welcome Gorguts back to the dissonant arena with opus Pleiades’ Dust.
Dissonance has become a buzzword in the Metal community. Known for its cacophonic tendencies the word tends get thrown around to enrich a band whos sound maybe be somewhat lacking. Returning back in 2013 an enriched line up ushered in the phenomenal return of Gorguts. Having released one of the most truly dissonant albums of their time, the classic Obscura to say the band are pioneers of the genre would be an injustice. Now shortly before unveiling their brand new EP Pleadies Dust our Canadian brethren roll into town to deliver an unlistenable sermon.
Celebrating the fantastic year that was 2015 sadly it is time to usher in the new year. With a new year comes Metal head’s favourite treat, new albums. We invite you to come with us to see what we believe to be some of the most anticipated albums of the next coming year. Adding in some that we’re speculating could be up for release into the mix as well.
Gorguts have recently announced that they shall be playing in Europe this coming March and shall be joined by a whole host of fantastic support.
