Goatwhore Ascend Higher Than Ever Before On New Album

Recording live is hardly somewhat of a novelty but in recent years it seems to have made a real resurgence among the most unlikely of bands. Last year, for example the technical behemoth’s that are Meshuggah released their new album recorded entirely live! Proof that regardless of how technical the material might be, it is possible to record live. Following up their 2012 effort Constricting Rage of The Merciless, Goatwhore resolved to change their recording habits of working with esteemed Metal producer Erik Rutan and instead bring a whole new idea to the table.

Sound has always been a fickle mistress in the realm of Metal. At once praised for its clean tonalities the more modern production styles are often slightly too clean, too devoid of grit. Understanding the ways of the Old School bands are slowly but surely moving back to the likes of analogue where things were a lot simpler. Not having room for retracting and layering the analogue truly separates the men from the boys. Headlining the Sophie Lancaster Stage this year at Bloodstock 2016 we were lucky enough to speak to Sammy Duet the man behind the wall of chainsaws that is Goatwhore’s sound. Speaking in depth ant the new album, when it can be expected and where it will be recorded we got the full low down all things Goatwhore.

Ah the days of summer, the ability to be confident that leaving the house with a (black) t-shirt is a good idea, the (black) ice creams shared and of course the abundance of (black?) sunshine. Though nothing says Summer quite like Bloodstock, attending our first ever festival last year we are incredibly excited to be getting back to real matters here. Knocking together a truly phenomenal line up this year we’ve got full performances of The Satanist, last ever performances, Space age Thrash and Mastodon to enjoy. We’ve picked ten out of the plethora of bands that will get any Metalhead moshing for good reason. Come with us through the rabbit hole and check out the ten bands that we think are unmissable at this year’s Bloodstock 2016!
