After their absolutely brilliant debut album The Conscious Seed Of Light, Rivers Of Nihil have become somewhat of a cult act, now we see their return with the announcement of their brand new album.
Entitled Monarchy the record will be the band’s sophomore return in keeping with the previous album’s themes of the seasons the second album will be dealing specifically with Summer. Taking place after the events of TCSOL lyricist Adam Biggs states :
“The Earth has been transformed into a vast desert wasteland, where after aeons of lifelessness, new beings begin to take shape and begin their journey as shepherds of the planet. But after a while, a class system forms from a sun-worshiping religious dictatorship, and these beings start to lose their way. Only the guidance of an ancient earthly force can help them save themselves as well the planet.”
Well that does sound rather interesting to say the least . To be able to continue on such an abstract theme as seasons themselves it would seem that Rivers Of Nihil are onto a winning combination. Once again album artwork duties were taken by the classic Dan Seagrave, responsible for creating some of the quintessential Death Metal album covers. Not only that though the band have also unveiled a brand new track entitled “Perpetual Growth Machine”. Stating that the album will begin in all out heaviness, whilst slowly becoming more progressive towards the album’s end, this will definitely be one to look out for.
