This week we see a battle between the boys and the girls. With the death metal legends emerging from the pitch black grim cave. Bloodbath are now back, new and improved with Paradise Lost singer Nick Holmes who has already proven himself to be a worthy successor to the bellowing of Akerfeldt. Grand Morbid Funeral is sure to be one of death metal’s best surprises this year. The announcement of all things happening in the Bloodbath seemingly took the metal community by surprise and from then it was a no holds barred ride. With three singles and a video released showing a dark, classic and downright evil sound the band have moulded from their iconic death metal Grand Morbid Funeral will not be one to miss!

Now from the girl’s camp are Alternative rockers In This Moment, following up their previous effort with Black Widow ensures that Maria Brink and co return to the female fronted fore with a hard hitting album that has seemingly surprised a lot of critics. With the release of the industrial tinged, balancing into slight dirty word “djent” charascterized by the singer’s voice. Chock full of anthemic choruses if catchy alternative music is your bag then pick it up!

Flying the flag high for blackened thrash we see the return of legends Thanatos this week with their new album Global Purification. Maintaining their sound with breakneck speeds that thrashers will surely adore the band show no signs of slowing down. Wah heavy solo’s abound if you love your metal thrashing mad then look no further this week than Global Purification.

And finally, one of the biggest female fronted acts in metal are releasing a DVD/BluRay combo of their fantastic 2012 performance. Within Temptation release Let Us Burn a perfomance that includes the best part of the bands commemorative 15th anniversary show at Sportpaleis and the second part their performance as part of the Hydra tour at the Heineken Music Hall. A top notch DVD that looks and sounds absolutely fantastic and a just representation of the enormity of the bands sound!
