Album Review : Every Time I Die – Low Teens

Like a bitter couple with a repertoire of old resentment. Both steadfast, unflinching determined in their dejected efforts to conjure yet another argument oozing acrimony from the fallout of past failures. Every Time I Die return for another metaphorical boxing match. Screaming at their opponent,  an armada of dissonance armed with sarcasm and wit Keith Buckley holds the fort as lyricist. Except this time, with Low Teens, the rules in the ring have changed once again.

Album Review : Allegaeon – Proponent of Sentience

Lanning’s third law states that a robot cannot harm a human. Independent of free thought robots were bred for a purpose to act without reason save for one Sonny. Breaking the indifferent code the robot became a sentient being leading the revolution of a self awakening. Tackling the lofty idea of the understanding of the ability to differentiate the ability to think to the ability to feel our reprogrammed quintet Allegaeon return.

Album Review : Heaven Shall Burn – Wanderer

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. An old adage that somehow has surpassed time malleable into almost any context the idea of creating the same has been something that we as humans have thrived upon. Building upon our craft to eventually unveil the fruits of our labour in a latest work. Heaven Shall Burn have remained steadfast to their Metalcore come Hardcore roots despite the ailing health of the Metalcore scene the band have stood strong. Yet somehow have become adrift with the times, aptly titled the band’s new album Wanderer brings to mind exactly what Heaven Shall Burn stand for.

Album Review : Brujeria – Pocho Aztlan

Steadfast in tradition Mexico is a country where ancestry is revered and family is everything and honour is wasn’t at the highest price. This year has seen Britain decide to alienate itself entirely from the European Union, Trump take to an ever growing potential presidency and human civilisation as a whole becoming more detached by the day owing to the enabler of social media. Known for their fierce traditions Mexico as a country are one of passion of true fierce conviction. Known as “the promised land” to many Mexicans the struggle to enter the world of the American Dream  daily for those wanting escape particularly with an idiot like Trump deciding to want to build a wall.

Album Review : Touche Amore – Stage Four

Acting as a conduit music can be one of the most powerful tools into the study emotion that we as humans have created. Conveying sentiments varying on their intensity, in an instant a familiar sound, song or lyric can conjure up a memory from a past long forgotten. Used no doubt as a coping mechanism music can also be a vessel for creative output that has given us pained, honest and truly wounded visions into the human soul. Opening this door into the human psyche Touche Amore beckon us forward into the study of grief that is Stage Four.

Album Review : King 810 – La Petite Mort Or A Conversation With God

Long before the conventional distractions that we deem essential, there used to be the time of the bards. Travelling around the bards would slowly but surely get their message out, be it a fictional tale, allegory or complete truth. Through the power of word of mouth their gospel was spread. Fast forward to the modern day, civil unrest, somewhat down trodden lives and injustice have given birth to a new revolution. Taking the ideals of our bards, the poets of the modern day aren’t the likes of Yates or Keats but people who experience the grit, the reality of a life that most would never experience. Combining a unique style of semi spoken word with instrumentation King 810 spread their second gospel La Petite Mort Or A Conversation With God.

Album Review : Airbourne – Breakin’ Outta Hell

Picture walking into a party, stepping through the door you see the lofty tweed stature of Jazz gazing your way. Despite the judgemental, santicmonious and ever pretentious stares you carry on further in. The slow din of the music gradually gets louder, when a well dressed man comes out, looking his nose down at you potentially with theatre spectacles, his name is Classical. Bred from the misunderstanding of class segregation in music he is in a word a toff. Opening the door you see R’n’B getting down to it with Rap whilst Drum n Bass is raving to itself in the corner. Your attention then is drawn to the garden. Walking down the hallway into the green playpen, you see him. Stood atop the roof, Jack Daniels in hand, shirtless and mid jump off his slate podium landing triumphantly in his leather pants, that, well that idiot is Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Album Review : The Devin Townsend Project – Transcendence

Creative approach can be one of the most important ingredients for a successful career. Beginning his steps with the unhinged stylings of Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend cemented his imprint in the Metal scene. Known for their unrelenting energy the man began to slow down. Crafting more of a therapeutic outlet in the form of The Devin Townsend Project allowed the singer and guitarist to delve into emotions. Extracting various different tonalities each album represented a different stage of the man’s life. Returning in 2014 with bombastic space rock opera that was Dark Matters along with Sky Blue the man was indeed not starved of creative oxygen. Now two years later The Devin Townsend Project are gracing us once more with their metaphysical presence in the form of Transcendence.
