We wonder what happened to Swedish metalcore band Seremedy?
Those who are fans of Visual Kei and Japanese metal in general would surely noticed the emergence of a video labelled ‘No Escape’ by a band called Seremedy. The band followed all the Japanesque visual conventions…flamboyant attire, cross-dressing and the certain music style that brings attack on the verse and melody in the chorus. There was one distinct difference about Seremedy – they were not Asian.
Hailing from Sweden, guitarist / vocalist Yohio is the centrepiece of the band, a young musician has whose career has already spread across broad horizons being the son of Tommy Rehn from heavy metal band Corroded. Yohio has had a relatively successful solo career in Japan, explaining why his band Seremedy decided to take on a Japanese style and what would seem to be a popular pioneer in western Visual metal.
Evidently this was not met with much success as the band quitely disbanded in 2013 with only one album under the belt. This is likely in part of a combination of Yohio’s solo career, and the fact that understandably the whole concept of Visual Kei remains quite alien to the western hemisphere.
