An Interview With : Neal Tiemann (DevilDriver)

Initiation can be somewhat intimidating, beginning a new job, changing location but especially when joining a brand new band. Going through an evolution to an extent DevilDriver saw a pretty radical change in the guard. With both drummer John Boecklin and guitarist Jeff Kendrick departing the band both Dez Fafara and Mike Spreitzer got together to flesh out a new plan of action. Fast forward to the year 2016, the newly cemented line up has seen the band unveil their biggest release to date with their phenomenal chart topping success that is Trust No One. Prior to their one off exclusive London date way back in August, we were lucky enough to be able to have a chat with Neal Tiemann, where we found out what exactly it would be like to join DevilDriver.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger or so the saying goes. A necessary requirement to thrive in music is adaptability. From simple touring mishaps to larger scale operations that require serious change. Some are lucky to go their entire career with the same members however others need perspective, trials that are bigger than the road begin to appear. Having released their return to form Winter Kills, slightly disconcerting news that the band had a change in the guard. Heading into the studio to record their follow up full length but are DevilDriver a wolf in sheep’s clothing?

Having gone on hiatus last year the cryostasis of Devildriver seems to be slowly thawing with the announcement of their brand new album set to be released next year.
