2016 certainly has thrown down the gauntlet in terms of Metal releases. Despite us only just coming into the month of June so far we have had some absolutely astounding releases. From comebacks to phenomenal debuts, expansive work to avant garde madness this is a list chronicling just some of the newest releases this year. Today we will be looking at some of the releases from the first third of the year and boy are there some truly top additions.
Authenticity in the modern day has become somewhat of a misnomer. Able to mask technical shortcomings, abilities are enhanced with the use of the arrays of technology now readily available. Kindly sitting down with us shortly before their performance at London’s Underworld, we spoke to Ignite bassist Brett Rasmussen once again regarding not only their brand new album A War Against You but the sheer importance of being a real live band. In a day and age when it is all too easy to conceal faults with tricks, seeing a band perform live truly separates the men from the boys and for those who might have ever seen Ignite know just how crucial this can be…
In the modern age technology is able to conjure a plethora of smoke and mirrors surrounding a band. Forsaking emotion for the sake of technicality or gimmicks, the performance itself is changing. Releasing their fourth album over a career spanning twenty two years Ignite are seasoned in the schooling of Hardcore. Ten years after the now eponymous Our Darkest Days, the band release A War Against You. Proving critics and fans alike that ten years has done nothing but fuel their fire on record we now get to see just how devastating a live performance the band can be.
The amount of change within a decade is truly astounding. In the span of just a few years Germany hosted the World Cup, one of the biggest social media sites ever Twitter is launched and the birth of the iPhone. Already with the massive advances in technology we find ourselves capable of doing things we never thought possible. Laying the foundations firmly with their now cult classic Our Darkest Days, the slow moving quintet start it all over again with the release of their ten years in the making A War Against You.
Legends among the Hardcore scene Ignite mark their return this week with the release of their highly anticipated follow up to 2005’s Our Darkest Days. With it now being just over ten years since the band released new material we caught up with bassist and all round lovely bloke Brett Rasmussen to speak about all things Ignite. Describing to us what it was like re-entering the recording studio after such a lengthy absence, what the band’s bright future might hold and how transposing songs, originally written in Hungarian can be quite the challenge…
Celebrating the fantastic year that was 2015 sadly it is time to usher in the new year. With a new year comes Metal head’s favourite treat, new albums. We invite you to come with us to see what we believe to be some of the most anticipated albums of the next coming year. Adding in some that we’re speculating could be up for release into the mix as well.
And it’s brilliant.
For years Ignite have been one of the most inactive bands in Hardcore and now finally the band will release some new material. After the now classic Dark Days it would be an understatement that the band have got some living up to do.
The follow up to the absolutely brilliant Our Darkest Days at long last gets a release date.
