Not so long ago, there spelled many problems in The Faceless. Now having every member save, original sole writer Michael Keene we can now say there will be a new Faceless album out. Who will be on it?

That we do not know, shortly before Christmas there was a mass exodus where, vocalist, bassist, guitarist and drummer all left Keene high and dry. According to the machine’s twitter page we can expect new music, along with the new release from The Zenith Passage. The most important question to ask ourselves however, is what will it sound like? It is worth mentioning that it is admirable that the man has still forged on with his musical endeavour as most, surely would have thrown in the towel.

After the huge leap in dynamic from Planetary Duality to the Townsend esque crooning of 2012’s Autotheism the band saw a drastic change. From the artillery like tech madness that was Planetary Duality to the more evolved sound in their previous album. What they will sound like is anyone’s guess, let alone who will be in the band.

The Faceless have always been Keene‘s band though. It almost seems like the man is a clumsy Schuldiner, instead of taking charge and changing the line up willingly it seems that some form of catalyst rears its ugly head and dispells previous members. Whatever happens in The Faceless camp, it should be an interesting year for the band.
