The time has come, Mastodon are in the studio!
In a recent interview Mastodon bassist / frontman / caveman Troy Sanders revealed that the band will be entering the studio the day after their show on October 1st meaning that Mastodon are in the studio right now! No word on who the band have gotten to produce the record but it’s going to be a hell of a lot of work particularly with this set to be a double album. The first that the band have released! The man also revealed that the album will be released ideally for early 2017. I would imagine that we might be looking at a March or February release, depending on the band. Either way here is the statement from the band.
“We’ve been working on it for the bulk of this year. We kind of dedicated 2016 to writing a record. We go into the studio in October and plan to have a new record out and on the shelves in early 2017.
“We’re going to record it in the Atlanta area, so we’ll get to go home and sleep in our own beds at night. Basically, we are going to play [Project Pabst Atlanta on] October 1, then the next day we being recording and we will be holed up at an Atlanta studio for the month of October.
“We’re excited because we’ve done lots of touring over the past few years. It’s that refreshing cycle of write, record, tour, tour, tour, take a break, write, record, tour, tour, tour. This is one of the many healthy transitions that we do as a band to keep our momentum going. We’re excited about recording because we haven’t recorded a record in over two years. Positive vibes are in the house.”
Get excited guys!
