Man Is The Warmest Place To Hide According To Broken Hope

Returning from their slumber after their record Omen of Disease, Broken Hope have announced their brand new album Mutilated and Assimilated and their first track to premiere will appeal to Kurt Russel no doubt, that’s right my friends Broken Hope went full Carpenter and unleashed “Mutilated And Assimilated” to echo The Thing.

Forgetting about the 2011 remake, which should have remained encased in the ice, The Thing is one of the best Horror come Sci-Fi films out there. Created in 1982 the story is ingenious. For those who might not be familiar with the story, it revolves around a team of researchers based in the most remote place in the world, Antarctica. Awakening this evil being from being trapped in the ice, we slowly learn that the alien is able to assimilate elements of animals (man that bit is grim) and humans to create a false version in order to later mutilate. Making for a brilliant, tense game of cat and mouse the story keeps you second guessing right until the very end.

Why then has it taken so long for people to write a Metal song about it!? I just have to say we’re lucky to have Jeremy Wagner here to bring in the Sci-Fi cavalry and get this off the ground. The track “Mutilated And Assimilated” itself is indicative of what we can come to expect from the band’s brand new album of the same title. Its riffs are heavy and fast, coming throughout the track but it’s the overall groove that just bleeds a certain genius about it.

Not to mention watching the inspired lyric video, a combination of the banc performing and sketches from the 1982 original movie with all the gore intact. The song is yet just another example of the devastating songwriting that Broken Hope employ and perhaps, well I sincerely hope, that Broken Hope will get the recognition they so sorely deserve with their brand new record.

In the words of Macready himself :

“Somebody in this camp ain’t what he appears to be. Right now that may be one or two of us. By spring, it could be all of us.”

Broken Hope’s brand new album Mutilated and Assimilated is set for a June 23rd release via Century Media.
