Previously when seen the actions of Down frontman Phil Anselmo had a horrific impact on the Metal community and have since seen some pretty drastic consequences which are not letting up.

Having made a name for itself in the festival arena Hellfest has fast become one of the premier Metal festivals to attend. With their eclectic line up over masses of stages catering to every kind of Metal fan, from the classics of Black Sabbath to the grindcore madness of Cattle Decapitation there is something for everyone.

However, each year the festival is aided in its funds by the French government giving them 20,000 euros for the show. No doubt it brings many a metal head to France and increases their tourism. Nevertheless this year the government had certain demands. Owing to his recent outburst word of mouth still travels quickest and the government have been made aware of Anselmo’s poor actions and have said they want no part in Down performing at the festival. Festival organiser and promoter Ben Barbaud was given an ultimatum by Bruno Retailleau. Deciding to instead take the high road the festival formerly announced it’s final line up today with Down still on the bill.

I would imagine that the bands agenda is somewhat unpredictable at the moment. After the cancellation at Fortarock and many people not wanting anything to do with Anselmo which inadvertedly means Down itself. I think there might be more to come in this story’s fruition…
