Shortly releasing their brand new album Sword Songs in May fans will at last have a chance to hear brand new Grand Magus material in the form of “Varangian“.

Showing their hand Grand Magus show us that they are just as destructive as ever with the riff fest that is “Varangian“. Much of the same has come out of the Swedish riff lords and I would imagine that Sword Songs will definitely be following this pattern. Hardly deviating from the norm the band are known for their steadfast rooted rhythms seeing them live last year with Enslaved did nothing but entice me further into the band. Recorded by Nico Elgstrand the new offering will no doubt be another chapter in the band’s already brilliant legacy.
