Solidifying a line up can be no easy task, one of the most important elements in the life time of a band after the musical material of course is the band’s line up. After a slightly turbulent time involving previous singer Geoff Tate, Queensryche have at long last emerged triumphant. Having released their brand new album Condition Human on October 2nd, we were lucky enough to be able to speak to the Queensryche mastermind Michael Wilton.
Prior to the record’s release the guitarist lifted the lid on what we will be able to expect from the new release, so if you’ve picked it up already or are thinking about picking a copy up, listen to the interview to discover all that is Condition Human.
Onto Condition Human, how was the writing and recording process for the album?
Well first and foremost, the landscape for the recording, there was less distractions I mean you have a situation where everybody has really grown comfortable with each other and really bonded well so that’s a big plus. Everybody was more comfortable in the aspect of writing, contributing and building the next Queensryche album. Which can be quite daunting, to create a Queensryche album, so many ideas. All in all it was a great creative situation and a lot of ambition and a lot of real dedication from everyone in the band. Really coming to the fold giving their a game and writing the music.
We started profiling all the demo’s and we were up to about twenty plus songs. It was just matter of I think we have a good situation, once we get some honest ears on it. It’s just finding the right producer for this body of music. So we went onto that, that’s kind of how the whole situation started. Which on the previous album there was a hundred percent distractions it was very chaotic and crazy and stressful. You have the difference in the two albums.
Do you think that will make a difference in the album itself?
I think so, I think that we are a little more solidified. All thinking along the same way as far as music is concerned, everybody gives as much as they could. That’s something that producer Zeuss really pulled out of everybody. He saw this as an opportunity being a fan of the first six songs, it was his idea to revitalise the magic in the instrumentation. Recording and bring that into the fold of 2015 I think that once we had the direction all solidified to whittled it down to eleven songs and it was just “lets get busy and start recording…”
