On day seven of our album of the year countdown comes a industrial metal supergroup debut, that was as much visually entertaining as it was musically.

Lindemann – Skills in Pills

When you hear the words ‘side project’ you really don’t tend to think of much. Especially a Rammstein side-project where guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe’s ‘Emigrate’ has been distinctly average.

At sometime in Rammstein’s hiatus, Till Lindemann taught himself English, and announced a collaboration with Pain mastermind and super-producer Peter Tagtren, and dear god was it fabulous!

While the music itself did indeed sound like a Rammstein / Pain mash-up, listening to Till Lindemann sing about his morally questionable life experiences in heavy accented English is nothing short of comical and brilliant. The hooks and melodies are catchy, and the videos of course are obscene.

A surprise inclusion on this years list, but ‘Skills in Pills‘ stayed on my player for a very long time.
