Appearing on and off from the Metal radar for a total of thirty three years at long last the silence from Armored Saint was broken this year. Releasing their brand new album Win Hands Down this year the band have proven that they are ready to be back and to be louder than ever. Following their appearance supporting Queensryche in London the band have a slot over at Bloodstock. Luckily enough we were able to speak to guitarist Jeff Duncan about what it’s like be returning to the scene after their five year absence, how it feels to be performing in the modern day and what some of the guitarist biggest influences are!
Do you think that with the new album you will be able to have fans of a younger age as well as fans of a slightly older age maybe?
Well you know, you always want that! I’ve noticed that a lot of people have the new record and not so much the older ones but then you get people who have the new one and everything else. It’s been some younger people who have had the new record and that’s always exciting to see that we’re appealing to maybe another generation and they’re appreciating it. So how old are you?
Twenty four
Twenty four, see what I mean! So I’m double your age!
But you don’t look a day over twenty one!
Oh yeah now we’re best friends haha!
Yeah, I have noticed it. I don’t now that we will be MTV darlings or anything like that, but who wants to be! I think we have managed to appeal to some younger people I think that’s because Armored Saint is just a straight up Metal band. We’re classic Metal, we’re somewhere between rock ‘n’ roll and Metal really! And I think that is very appealing it’s not something that gets dated. Rock ‘n’ roll is Rock ‘n’ roll….
