Perhaps not exactly a characteristic of the classic Black Metal make up, the sun was relentless in 1349’s extraordinary set. Giving the band a little time to cool off we were able to speak to Seidemann about 1349 and it’s happenings. Releasing Massive Cauldron Of Chaos last year the band have seemingly soared since, among touring all over, the band have also made time to create their own brand of beer, which Seidemann fills us in on along with answering some questions on the band and what might be headed their frost bitten way.
How has the reaction been to the new album Massive Cauldron Of Chaos?
Well! It has been very very good actually! A lot of comparisons have been made to Beyond The Apocalypse because of the really thrashy influence, that’s been there since, well it’s been there since the beginning. Now they’re more to the forefront and the reaction has been good kind of all over and there’s been some people that normally wouldn’t really listen to 1349 has gotten into it. I’m always thinking how can this be accessible right? It’s fucking brutal but it has gained us a bit of recognition also in Norway which is nice for a change right haha!
You can use it as a platform and then people get into Hellfire…
I mean reception in general has been really really good for this album.
So could you tell us about the recording process?
Well the recording process was done as always, we recorded in Studio in Ainhau which is about one and a half hours outside of Oslo, home of an artist of a Norwegian Metal band called TNT that was big in the eighties! He has a studio and he has been recording our album since Beyond The Apocalypse and the main difference this time around was that we brought our sound engineer that we use in the US, Gareth Pritchard. We broth him over to Norway to actually do the tracking and he is a ridiculous sound engineer, he’s really good! He is also an amazing guitarist and bass player, he’s a big artist himself. So it was fun in the studio he would sit there looking at you saying “You fucking Norwegians, look at you, just because you burn churches, you think you can get away with anything! Do that again motherfuckers! Hahahaha!
