Album of the Year #4: Ghost/Aeon – Metanoia

It’s pretty obvious by now that the djent genre has become a bit of a trend. So many bands are doing it, and so many bands are making it really boring. But every now and then a djent band comes along that is absolutley sublime, and in 2016 that came in the form of Ghost/Aeon.

While their release ‘Metanoia‘ is not an album per se, it certainly merits a shortlisting given the explosive nature of its release. Skull crushing off signature riffing, beautiful melodies, brutal vocals and some well-constructed song structures have really set these Californians on the path to great things, and hopefully we will see a full album release sooner rather than later.
