Worst. Publicity Stunt. Ever.

Recently social media sparked when it was announced that frontman of Upon A Burning Body, Danny Leal, went missing. It was announced via UABB’s Facebook page that Danny Leal had gone missing below:

“Breaking News: Danny Leal (singer of Upon A Burning Body) has been reported missing. He was last seen in his home town of San Antonio TX on Monday, June 30th.”

It has now been revealed that the whole ordeal was a publicity stunt. And a terrible one.

The questions remains that with 9 years of professional experience under the band’s belt, why on earth would they think this was a good idea? What on earth could they possibly gain by pulling something like this?

The saying goes that any publicity is good publicity, but given the harsh mistress that is the internet and social media…the negative backlash towards the band proves that statement has it’s limits. Many metal fans have taken to Facebook to spread their discontent with the actions. Word of mouth has brought attention to the band, but it is likely many fans, especially ones they would like to win over will turn their heads in response to the actions. ‘Upon A Burning Body? Oh yea that band who cried wolf.’
