Well, well, it’s been a rather long time since we were last treated to some new material from the boys down under. After releasing 2012’s Hate, their Nuclear Blast premiere the world seemingly fell in love with the band. Having been on stints with Suicide Silence, performing at small clubs to larger venues the audience growing in attendance every month, it is now time for the next chapter to be revealed in the Thy Art Is Murder story.
The new album entitled Holy War was recorded in secret, free of the anticipation that comes with a new record the band were able to craft their new work at their own pace. Produced and mixed by Will Putney, who has been responsible for Northlane, Suicide Silence and Misery Signals to name a few. Stating that the album is “darker, fast and more technical than anything we’ve done in the past and it hits hard lyrically”. Touching on the subjects of the hardships faced in our world today, the band promise that this will be one of the best releases to date!
You can read the full statement from the band below, let the excitement begin! Though many criticise the band for being simple and well kind of dull, I believe that they are doing something cometely different to all the usual deathcore sounding bands.
Finally the cat is out of the bag! Late last year, we entered the studio in secret to create our follow up to Hate, free of expectation and public pressure. What we came out with was a reaction to things going on around the world that crawl under our skin, that make us feel sick to be alive. Musically it is darker, faster and more technical than anything we’ve done in the past and it hits hard lyrically. We wrote about concerns of ours, real issues, hardships that people are facing around the world today. Of course it wouldn’t be a THY ART record if a lot of those affairs weren’t rooted in religion somehow, and what better way to sum up the state of all things than by entitling our album – Holy War. This is our war on racism, homophobia, child abuse, animal cruelty and all evil born of religious immunity, indoctrination, and ignorance. It is ultimately a push for secularism and humanism. Without it, we will be left in the hands of mad men.”
Holy War is set for a June 23rd release via Nuclear Blast!
