Recording for the bands fifth album has begun, the first since the departure of long time guitarist Jochem Jacobs.
Time sure does fly, having released the excellent Dualism four years ago now, we see the beginning of a new era of Textures. Touring in support of the bands tenth anniversary of their Polars album whilst also dealing with the founding member Jochem Jacobs decision to leave the band this will be new guitarist Joe Tal’s first chance to show us what he is indeed made of.
With news that the band have entered the studio, it seems that Jacob’s will still be with them. Recording at his Second Sound Studio it will make for an interesting take on the new album. Could there be a slight divide of ideas between the band? I would imagine that everyone would be as diplomatic as possible about each song and whatever kind of direction the band would want to take. Personally, I think that Textures will as ever, think outside the box and deliver something that will be quintessentially in their style but updated into the modern day.
The band state :
“We are thrilled to be back in the studio after such a long time. We know our fans are waiting for a while now as our previous album ‘Dualism’ has been released 4 years ago already. We have spent a long time making the songs really fit, so we can tell you this album will have something in store for every Textures fan out there and even more than that!!”.
Set for a tentative early 2016 release, perhaps we might see the arrival slightly earlier in the final section of 2015. If not, well then along with Meshuggah’s new album we will definitely have something to look forward to next year! More news as and when we have it.
