After having been quiet for a while now, we finally have some excellent news from the Sylosis camp. The band have announced that they will be releasing their new album, entitled Dormant Heart in January of next year. When asked about the release vocalist and main man Josh Middleton stated :
“It’s the most pissed-off, aggressive and intense album we’ve done, yet it still retains the epic, progressive and melodic side we’re also known for. It’s a very gloomy and atmospheric album. We’ve been through a lot as a band and individuals and we’ve made our darkest album to date.”
Sounds like the new album could be more of the same but could also see their progressive roots extend slightly. Tracking for the album began in March 2014, working on the album in between touring cycles, with it being mastered by Tesseract guitarist Acle Kahney and Josh Middleton being charge of the production of the album with the help of Scott Atkins. Perhaps this time there will be a different sound to Monolith which I thought was slightly lacking in the production. Both guitars and vocals were recorded in Reading at Wizard Sound Studios with drums being tracked by Rob Callard before his departure from the band in September 2014. Ali Richardson has been tapped as his replacement behind the kit of Bleed From Within fame, so this will be Callard’s last hurrah.
Which would be in no way a bad thing! As ever the second we hear of anything we will let you know as soon as possible.
Dormant Heart will be released January 12th 2015 via Nuclear Blast and will be a damn good way to start the year!
