“Were working hard on a line-up for 2015 and will make further announcements in due course.  We want to thank everyone who made Sonisphere 2014 such a special moment and hope that they enjoyed it as much as we did.

This is one article that precedes today’s news that Sonishphere U.K. will not go ahead. Slightly hypocritical, the festival celebrates its triumphant return in 2014 but then does the same thing that happened in 2013. Having already announced most of the line up for Download, Hellfest, Bloodstock etc… I thought it slightly odd that Sonisphere was remaining quiet. Normally scheduled in July the festival WAS fast becoming a contender to Download. A well organised, well received and well catered to festival. With excellent choice of bands genre wide, but how are they ever going to match the competition if it doesn’t go ahead…

Many people were upset about the Queen fiasco that caused Sonisphere 2013 to not happen and now it seems to be the same in 2015. Sonisphere team have said that they were not happy with both the line up and the timing of the festival when so much else was on, which fair enough can be understandable. However there’s only going to be so much that punters will take before just giving up on the festival altogether. A crying shame that the festival won’t go ahead but hey, there always next year right? As long as Sonisphere get its act together, otherwise there might not even be a point in coming back to the U.K.

A statement from the official website :

“Team Sonisphere reluctantly confirm that Sonisphere will not take place in the UK in 2015. We’ve been working hard to get a line-up that we felt was good enough but also on a weekend which would avoid other events that we know rock fans would want to support. Unfortunately our last irons in the fire have just been extinguished and it’s clear that we won’t be in a position to run the event this year. We’ve said in the past that Sonisphere will only go ahead if we feel it is going to be good enough and that hasn’t changed.

We hope all rock fans have a great summer with all the festivals andconcerts already in the calendar and we plan to see you all in 2016.”

Fingers crossed that metal head’s will remain patient for the festival to come back next year…
