Rush’s Neil Peart Announces Retirement

Lately the future has much been uncertain for the Prog legends and now unfortunately we all have some closure.

Recent rumblings in the Prog undergrowth have led the infamous band to say they may well be finished touring and now unfortunately we can confirm that Neil Peart has indeed decided to bow out.

In an interview with Drumhead the infamous drummer states :

“Lately Olivia [ Neil’s daughter] has been introducing me to new friends at school as ‘My dad – he’s a retired drummer.’ True to say, funny to hear.

“And it does not pain me to realize that, like all athletes, there comes a time to… take yourself out of the game. I would rather set it aside then face the predicament described in our song ‘Losing It‘ [‘Sadder still to watch it die, than never to have known it’].”

A true shame nevertheless with the sheer deman that Rush is in as well as the nightly performances of lasting three hours minimum the man has more than done enough behind the kit. Bowing out with the absolutely monumental R40 it couldn’t be a better time to call it quits.

We know we’ll be playing “The Trees” today!
