Unbeknownst to us Rivers of Nihil have decided that they will be indeed having a change in the guard.
Stating that drummer Alan Balamut has decided to return to his studies to become a music producer in order to have a more stable lifestyle. Not exactly a stupid move, knowing more and more about the financial woes of being in a band it’s understandable that the drummer would try and make sure that he has an ability to make an income.
Nevertheless on the other side of the coin we see the joining of Dylan Potts. Previously joining the band at very short notice for their run of dates with Hate Eternal the man has seemingly proven himself worthy. Though in the Facebook statement it does say that if there are options with Rivers of Nihil to rejoin after his studies are completed then he would. This does leave some question as to whether Potts will be contributing to the writing process on a next record at all.
Whatever the weather check out the video:
Dylan Potts- Rivers of Nihil- “Perpetual Growth Machine”As some of you guys may already know Alan Balamut is no longer the drummer for Rivers of Nihil. He left the band in order to finish school and on this journey we wish him the very best! With that being said we would like to officially welcome Dylan Potts as our new drummer. Dylan really helped us out in a tight situation by filling in for us on the Infernus Tour this past fall. He is an absolutely phenomenal player, a great person, and we are honored to have him as a full time member. To close, here is a statement from Alan concerning his departure: “Hey everyone. I’m sure many of you already know and some may not but I have decided to part ways with Rivers of Nihil a few months ago in good terms. The reason is simply that I need to financially situate myself (NYC isn’t easy) and my urge to finish school in Music Production. I found Dylan Potts just before my departure and I believe he fits in and performs with the band in phenomenal ways. The whole ride was an amazing and unforgettable experience and I have nothing but respect for each member, former member, our manager, all the people I’ve met and Metal Blade Records. In the meantime I’ll be doing session work and other music productions, and I’ll be more open for touring after I finish school in 2016– and if Rivers ever need any assistance, I’ll be right there for them. I wish the band all the success for next year and beyond!”
