It’s Star Wars day folks, and even the tribute day of May 4th doesn’t circumvent us metalheads!

Today we will be firing some Star Wars related metal your way, and first up is the short lived but massively entertaining Star Wars themed death metal band Anchorhead.

Labelling themselves as ‘Darth Metal’, the band only released an EP of progressive death metal that covered the highlights of the Star Wars soundtrack and grinding them into pure metal.

They only played a handful of live shows, but never failed to entertain dressing up as Boba Fett, Obi Wan, Princess Leia and Darth Vader on stage. I had the unexpected pleasure to watch the band support To-Mera many years ago, and despite this band dropping off the face of the earth (or returning to Tattooine) they have not been forgotten!
