About a week ago Chimaira guitarist Emil Werstler left the band due to differences, and now everyone else has followed him out the door.

All members excluding vocalist Mark Hunter have officially quit Chimaira including guitarist Matt Szlachta, drummer Dustin D’Amond, keyboardist Sean Zatorsky and bassist Jeremy Creamer, as well as the previously reported Emil Werstler. They issues a collective statement on the departure:

“In light of recent news, the rest of the band have decided to part ways with Chimaira. For us this was a great stepping stone, and an honor to play these songs live, and fulfill an incredible legacy. This was an an excellent platform to help continue playing music, when our collective bands [Dååth, Bleed the Sky and Dirge Within] either ended or went on a hiatus. Chimaira was an amazing experience and we look forward to future music endeavors with each other.”

Although the reasons for the band abandoning Chimaira are not well known, according to MetalSucks the past US tour that ended recently was very poorly attended and their previous record ‘Crown of Phantoms‘ was not well received, leading way for the members to leave and pursue other projects. While Chimaira is not officially dead, we can’t see it being revived anytime soon.
