We pulled a prank yesterday to announce that Glen Tipton was the guitarist of Megadeth, but 24 hours later here’s Dave Mustaine with the real announcement…and to be honest we were way off on the guess!

It has been announced that Kiko Loureiro, known for his superstar work in Angra is now the official guitarist of Megadeth!

An absolutely fantastic achievement for Kiko! It seems that being in one of the world’s most prominent power metal bands wasn’t enough, and has now joined one of the biggest overall metal bands in the world.

Apparently this was rumoured in Loureiro’s home nation of Brazil for a while, but we totally missed the mark on that.

It does appear that he will be sticking with Angra, who themselves played a wild prank yesterday that they were breaking up…very odd foreshadowing indeed.

Recently Megadeth announced the enlistment of Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler, so along with Kiko we can expect some new and exciting things for Megadeth!
