Death metal Darwin’s continue their evolution with a second song off their very highly anticipated album Sun Eater. “Eating The Visions Of God” is to be the first track to open the album and it does so with aplomb. Continuing with the style that we were first greeted with in first single “Sun Of Nihility“, with fantastic fretless bass guitar work from Nick Schendzielos ascending to heights similar to Obscura which is hard to believe is the same band from their deathcore beginnings. Along with Schenzielo, once again guitarist Tony Sannicandro is playing interesting chords, that colour the doom laden landscape Job For A Cowboy are so brilliant at evoking. With such a forward leap from Ruination to Demonocracy it would be understandable that the band would settle for just the one sound but if these two brilliant tracks are anything to go by it sounds like it could be anything but.
Although its not all about the fretboards, session drummer Danny Walker delivers a fantastic tight performance along with Jonny Davy’s demented howls, reminiscent of a certain Swedish death metal band releasing a comeback very soon. The two songs showcased so far have exhibited a lot more progression that could very much see this band, who began as a deathcore fad turning into a fantastic torch bearer for modern day metal.
