No doubt one of the least prestigious awards in the Metal community but an award nonetheless, the Grammy’s have announced their nominations of Best Metal Performance.

The five nominees are :

Slipknot – Custer from .5: The Gray Chapter via Roadrunner Records

August Burns Red – Identity from Found In Far Away Places via Fearless Records

Ghost – Cirice from Meliora via Loma Vista Records

Lamb of God – 512 from VII : Sturm Und Drang via Epic Records

Sevendust – Thank You from Kill the Flaw via 7Bros Records

Though fantastic that these bands are nominated for an award the Grammy award has been noted for being not quite being real and often farcical. Mastodon attended last year’s and cooked up quite a storm leading to guitarist Brent Hinds to be expelled from the venue. Either way the new Grammy’s will be taking place in February 15th at Los Angeles’ Staple Center.
