EP Review : Vader – Iron Times

Connotations within Metal can be detrimental yet can on the other hand be incredibly accurate. The reliably devastating path that Vader have carved for themselves cements their status as a steadfast edifice to Death Metal. Earning them even the accolade of the Motörhead of Death Metal. Set to release their new effort Empire later this year to baying fans over the band release their EP Iron Times.

A meld of both tribute and original material, revisiting their Polish heritage the band have been touring their previous early demos. Subconsciously worming its way into the new works “Parabellum” gnashes its metaphorical teeth as Piotr’s undead commands are bellowed out at breakneck speed followed in quick succession by the groove oriented “Prayer To The God Of War” seeing the artillery fire of Vader mobilise to airtight accuracy.

The second side of the EP acts as more of a B-side if you will excuse the pun. Featuring a track from their Polish heritage “Piesc I Stal” with lyrics entirely in Polish it doesn’t stop the song from plundering along at a slow and steady speed though despite the fact that Vader might share the same title in a Death Metal umbrella, known for their aptitude for covers their homage to Lemmy in “Overkill” is a brilliant gem. Ensuring that the classic touches remain with a certain element of the classic Polish riffing added in. Acting as somewhat of an appetiser before November’s main course where Vader will release their brand new album Empire, Iron Times celebrates both the band and their influences perfectly which will still have fans baying for new material but if it’s as good as what we heard here then we can wait a little longer.

[why]If you fancy hearing how Vader pay homage to their heroes and riff just as well as they have then the (Iron) Time(s) is now! [/why]
