It should come as a particular surprise to anyone that Deadlock vocalist Sabine Scherer has decided to step down to focus on her family life. But the band will continue, and the biggest announcement in a while has been made!

The German melodic death metallers have now announced a brand new album entitled ‘Hybris‘, planned for a July 8th release via Napalm Records.

Along with that it has been announced that Margie Gerlitz will be the new female vocalist of the band.

Guitarist and mainman Sebastian Reichl has commented on the announcement:

“Hybris is both powerlessness and hope, melancholia and confidence united, accounting for the past in the truest sense. The effort to meet your demons, to forgive and to find salvation with your own history. The release of dammed aggressions and wash away all fears. Put all wrath and anger in music and lyrics to fill with new passion. This is all what Hybris symbolizes and you can feel it every second on the album. It was our longest trip. Giving up was never an option.”

Deadlock have always been an odd favourite. A lot of things have happened in the band since the last release including the sad passing of founding member Tobias Graf – a lot of creative energy should be thrown into this one. I am eagerly anticipating it.
