Former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo has stated outright that he will never be returning to the band after he was ousted last year. Do you believe him?
Lombardo was ejected from the band in his third stint with them, after an alleged argument over finances, the key problem in the metal world these days. In an interview with Metal Hammer when asked about a possible return to the band Lombardo said:
“No. That’s it. I’m done now.” Is the finality of his response. “I’ve got lots of other things on my plate and I now know that, when it comes to money, you don’t have any friends in this business. I won’t ever be going back.”
You can never say never in metal, maybe there could be a reunion show in the future that Lombardo can’t say no to, but both bands are perfectly happy not being together at the moment with Slayer themselves currently touring successfully and heading into the studio, and Lombardo getting ready to release a new album with his band Philm. We’ll have to wait a long while to see if Dave actually lives up to this promise!
