After the announcement that none of the world was expecting whatsoever when Misfits proudly revealed that they are indeed back with an original line up the question of who would be filling in on drums for the band remained and now we have an answer.

Needing no introduction ex-Slayer man Dave Lombardo has been making quite a name for himself of recent. Being enlisted to be the new sticksman for Suicidal Tendencies and their new record, Lombardo is no doubt fairly sought after his time with Slayer but also now announced as the drummer for the Riot Fest appearances later this month featuring the original line up of the Misfits.

Comments Lombardo on the matter :

“The Misfits created the horror punk attitude and had a massive influence on modern rock, punk and metal,” Lombardo tells Rolling Stone. “It was an easy decision for me to join them for these monumental shows. I was honored to be asked, and am very excited to be playing with the band.”

Danzig then states :

“I first met Dave back in 1988 when Danzig did four shows with Slayer in the U.S., before the first Danzig album was released,” Danzig says. “Dave is one of the best drummers around, and I can’t wait for everyone to see him pounding Misfits songs live for these special shows.”

Well now these shows are definitely going to be going down in history and with a powerhouse drummer the likes of Lombardo you can bet that it will be a fantastic reunion performance that the world will be anxious to see.
