Sad news to hear from Australia’s premier metal and rock festival promoters, as they confirm that the 2017 edition of the festival will not happen.
DJ Maddah, the festival’s promoter responded to a tweet asking about a rumoured cancellation of the 2017 edition of Soundwave where he replied ‘definitely no SW17’.
The festival has boasted some massive lineups since the festival has been touring around the country, but Maddah finally cited that too little reward and public hate has led to him finally pulling the plug.
Rumours have been circulating that even the 2016 edition that features Disturbed, Deftones and Soulfly will be cancelled – but so far little official information supports that except for Bring Me The Horizon’s uncertain appearance.
I myself have enjoyed many good years at this festival while living near Brisbane including a riveting performance from Iron Maiden, and it’s sad to see the festival that provides so many opportunities for smaller bands to play Australia will be coming to a close.
I’ll have a drink for the last edition of the festival tonight!
