Swedish death metal overlords At The Gates have released their first official music video in nineteen years. Entitled “Death And The Labyrinth” its more of the phenomenal sound that was showcased in their anthemic single “At War With Reality“. Along with this being more new material from At The Gates the video for “Death And The Labyrinth” seems to have some philosophical undertones, a beautifully shot video courtesy of Patric Ulleus, featuring black and white landscapes along with our singer Tomas Lindberg in a trucker hat, it does shatter the beauty of the scenery slightly but hey ho. Interspersed with shots of cogs turning giving a feel of isolation and emptiness, it seems to be exactly what the band were looking for. Lindberg states :
“We had a very special idea about the kind of approach we wanted for the first video from “At War With Reality”. What we needed was someone gifted enough to throw himself artistically into the project full on. The lyrics to the song are very multi-layered and surreal, so we wanted someone to create a fevered dreamworld that went with the melancholic frustration and dramatic desperation that we feel comes across in the song. This is exactly what Patric has created for us. It’s his vision of the music and lyrics, which compliments the track perfectly in my opinion. I couldn’t be happier!”
At War With Reality will be released on October 27th via Century Media Records, you can also pre order the album in a deluxe boxset edition commemorating their return here.
