In keeping with classic Architects style the record is both an assault on the senses and a study of emotion. The likes of second single “Gone With The Wind” illustrate their marriage of both ferocity and grace perfectly. The verse’s arachnid riffing contrasted to the stadium sized chorus that the band have become renown for. Rousing spirits, vocalist Sam Carter still retains his devastating presence on album number seven. Despite its layered melodies “Deathwish” lives up to its name ensuring groove remains within the band whilst also bathing the listener particularly with its frantic almost punk chorus. Though its nothing compared to the fervent hostility of “Nihilist” a remorseless despondent prelude to this new chapter in Architects’ path.

Clever dynamics give way to sudden bursts of sentiment felt particularly through the vocal delivery of “The Empty Hourglass” working in tandem with the rhythmic pattern of the guitars. A cocktail of melancholy and limitless anger that is “A Match Made In Heaven” brings with it is a sight to behold, with its more accessible yet no less impacting statement. Though sometimes it can be the more restrained aspects of the band that shine through. Veering back to “From The Wilderness” brings a sound almost not seen since the days of Ruin back to the fore and makes for a rousing anthem. Owing to their fiercely confrontational delivery gives All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us a true sense of purpose. Predictable yet brilliantly crafted the band retain their signature cataclysmic edge.

With the platform Architects are now on the band vow to make a statement about the state of the world address. Unifying fans both new and old by their principles the band aren’t sanctimonious and bring an air of relatable accessibility with them which is key to their understanding. Branching out in their career the band have begun to incorporate different elements without sacrificing their integrity.  Grand finale the eight minute “Memento Mori” is a perfect encapsulation of the bands timeline culminating in a furious Black Metal style blast beat assault coupled with electronica style keys makes from a staggering, honest and finite statement of intent. Architects have shown promise with previous albums but here through experimentation, daring and defiance have begun to reach a maturity to be one of the biggest UK Metalcore acts in the world.

[verdict]Yes[/verdict]
[why]Honest, uncompromising and compassionate All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us sees Architects mature to the sound the band have been heading towards and will go down as one of their finest.[/why]
