Album of The Year Christmas Countdown Day One : Jakub Zytecki – Wishful Lotus Proof

As the year begins to come to an end so comes the time for festive fun, coming together and celebrating the year but most importantly Metal. And so as with almost every Metalhead in the world we begin our countdown of some of our favourite albums of 2015.

As you might be aware The Metalist is comprised of both myself and Chris, as such we have decided that for those of you who were with us for our first Album of the Year countdown we shall be bringing back the advent calendar. Each day either Chris or myself shall reveal our twelve favourite records of the year with a couple of surprises along the way. Make no mistake there are countless other incredible records to come out of the year but we can’t fit them all in! Our final choice for each of our album of 2015 will be revealed in the new year.

So without further ado over to Chris to start this year’s proceedings!

Jakub Zytecki – Wishful Lotus Proof

It’s not too often that an unsigned artist completely blows us away with a debut album, but guitar maestro Jakub Zytecki has done just that with ‘Wishful Lotus Proof‘.

Incorporating his own brand of djent combined with some of the most ethereal and melodic guitar work we have heard in a while made for a fantastic record, not to mention the renowned guest vocalists on the record that span from all corners of the Polish metal scene.

An djenthead or instrumental lover will find so many things to love about this record, as did I.

Stay tuned for album number two tomorrow!
