Day five of our album of the year countdown goes to the revival of classic heavy metal, and the unique twist Unleash the Archers put on it with ‘Time Stands Still’.
Unleash the Archers – Time Stand Still
Ah 2015, what a time to be alive for a metalhead. Unleash the Archers was one of those happy discoveries this year with their major debut single of ‘Tonight We Ride‘ and that wicked Mad Max style video that followed it. I felt a bit guilty about not knowing about this band before, but everything great about them was epitomised in this years record ‘Time Stands Still‘.
Great guitar work chugging and shredding along with furious battery to themes of valance and vigour. That is what heavy metal is about these days, and not only do Unleash the Archers do it well, their unique outlook lies into the delivery of the vocals crossing between the momentous wailing of frontwoman Brittney Slayes and the deviant death growls of guitarists Grant Truesdell and Andrew Kingsley.
‘Time Stands Still‘ is one of those albums that you thoroughly enjoy on a regular basis, and if you haven’t already got it, you really should. Test your metal.
