As another sunny day approached yet more bands were gracing this year’s festival fields. Among them a band that themselves, were concerned might not fit in with the Bloodstock aesthetic. Their incredibly catchy brand of Heavy Metal has garnered a significant following. Having released their brand new album Disguises we were able to speak to band mastermind and guitarist Jon about how it was to crowd fund an album, what the process behind Disguises was like and what exactly is going on in the Jettblack world!
What have you been up to this past year?
Really busy really! We got the album done, it’s such a long winded thing getting the whole pledge, because we used a pledge site, just to get everything fulfilled, get all the albums out, get the videos made and all that lot. It just, it takes so long it all seems simple stuff but because you go through middle men and back and forth and so on. It’s just really been getting everything to the people, getting the album out getting all the t shirts and all the perks sent off!
It’s all you guys?
Yeah, it’s all arranged ourselves and then yeah we have just been making videos. We made a video for “Explode” up in Manchester with Sitcom Soldiers. We’ve used them before but they’re really nice chaps and they’re fucking good at what they do. That came out pretty decent, the other week we were making a video for “Disguises” which hasn’t been released yet. Which will be the second single and then we’re going to be doing another next month for “Kick In The Teeth” hopefully up in Wales! The director has got some wild ideas, I don’t know what he wants me to do!
Running around the forest haha,
Yeah exactly! It should be fun and it will be nice to have a bit of a trip, make a weekend of it and stuff!
That’s quite a lot of videos coming out in a short space of time!
Yeah, well you’ve gotta get them under your belt sort of thing, when you release them is a different matter just to get them done and out of the way and then you can concentrate on other stuff, like trying to arrange the album tour…
The conversation picks up again at 4:00, listen to many more interviews not only from Bloodstock but from recent chats we have had with various different bands all over the Metal spectrum.
