From the gore ridden lyrics of early Cannibal Corpse or the Jesus hating sermons from Deicide, there is only one band of Florida Rednecks. Obituary – Cause Of Death
Released in the year 1990 it’s hard to imagine that this album is now twenty five years old. A shining achievement for the Florida Rednecks that boast some of their best written material. Though fan favourite would be contested with the classic Slowly We Rot, Cause Of Death is a truly brilliant album. Produced by Scott Burns, it contains that quintessential death metal sound synonymous with the early nineties. Not to mentions having the addition of one James Murphy as lead guitarist on the album. Classic cuts “Chopped In Half“, ” Bodybag” and “Find The Arise” show why the Tardy brothers are such fierce opponents in the death metal arena. John Tardy’s unique howl, inhabits the album amidst the slow drawl of its bludgeoning riffs. An absolute must for any death metal fan.
