Having released their thirteenth album yesterday and embarking on a US tour just a few days before hand Enslaved return among the metal community. In order for fans to truly understand and in some cases appreciate the album more, Ivar Bjørnson the main man behind Enslaved has sat down with Nuclear Blast and given a track by track guide. Now that the album is at long last released we have the final instalment of the track by track, where Bjørnson discusses title track “In Times” and closer “Daylight“. Instead of the usual, “well this track was inspired by…” routine we’re treated to a much more in depth analysis of the records tracks. Proving that Bjørnson is an incredibly articulate individual, painting a poetic picture and giving the album more of a back ground before listening.
If you missed the previous episodes, you can watch all three below. Speaking about two tracks in each video the man goes in depth to the nth degree. With the first video detailing the album’s beginning “Thurisaz Dreaming” and “Building With Fire“, which according to Bjørnson is the “pop” song. Not that an eight minute prog epic has ever been pop. With second video “One Thousand Years Of Rain” and one my personal favourites “Nauthir Bleeding” shedding a little more light on the album itself.
Enslaved‘s brand new album In Times was recorded in both Duper Studios and Solslottet Studio along with “sonic exploration” in the woods of Valevåg. The transfixing artwork was created by the long time collaborator, dubbed the sixth member of Enslaved,Truls Espedal. Who has truly out done himself with the band’s latest venture.
