The age old question has been coming back to fruition…could it happen this time?
After the recent very public exodus of guitarist Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover from the Megadeth ranks, mainman Dave Mustaine has kept very silent on who are the potential candidates to replace the huge boots that the two veteran musicians left behind. Megadeth itself very carefully has to consider the next move too – they need to revive some interest in the band considering their last album (or last couple) have been far from perfect, and that two iconic musicians that powered the band’s live performance have just left. Given this there has been some speculation that former members of classic Megadeth could be making a return. Some of these members have been asked directly by music journalists worldwide and have not said no to the idea of rejoining the metal legends.
The latest of which is ex-guitarist Marty Friedman, who built his career as a prominent television personality and musician in Japan after his departure from Megadeth. Now he is facing the interrogation of the question, would he rejoin Megadeth if asked? Myglobalmind asked him this question, and he responded:
“I don’t really have an answer for you. I know that people would want to know. Honestly, I don’t have an answer. I have never said ‘never’ to anything in my life, so who knows? I really don’t know.”
It seems most people these days are leaving their door open for reunion’s, just like Slayer’s Dave Lombardo who is open to joining the band again despite the fact he was only recently fired. From our opinion a reunion with Friedman and Megadeth seems rather unlikely, but straight from the horse’s mouth – never say never!
